Apapa Customs and Navy Enhance Maritime Security Cooperation

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service is deepening its collaboration with the Western Naval Command to enhance maritime security and facilitate seamless cargo movement. Comptroller General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation during a courtesy visit to Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha, the Flag Officer Commanding the Western Naval Command.

Emmanuel Oshoba, the Area Controller, highlighted the need for agencies to work together to improve border management and achieve better results in revenue generation and security functions. Mustapha acknowledged the long-standing partnership between the two agencies, stressing that without security, development is hindered.

He commended the efforts of the Nigerian Customs Service in blocking revenue leakages and surpassing national revenue targets. The collaboration aims to ensure a secure maritime environment, which is crucial for the economic growth of Nigeria.
