Wike's Influence Could Threaten APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Dr. Abdul Kareem Jimoh, the immediate past Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Ilorin, commented on the political activities of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Jimoh indicated that Wike's actions could have significant consequences for the All Progressives Congress (APC) beyond the 2027 general elections.

He acknowledged that the concerns of APC governors regarding Wike's influence are valid, as it could bolster President Bola Tinubu's re-election prospects while undermining APC candidates in various states. Jimoh remarked that Wike has gained enough political clout to operate outside traditional party structures, even surpassing some prominent APC figures.
