Nigerian Army Arrests Suspected Gunrunner in Katsina

On May 15, 2026, the Nigerian Army arrested Saidu Rabiu, a 25-year-old suspected gunrunner, in Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State. The arrest was executed following credible intelligence that led troops to swiftly mobilize to the location.

Rabiu was reportedly receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness at a hospital when he was apprehended without resistance. Subsequent preliminary investigations revealed that he was allegedly involved in supplying military-grade weapons and ammunition to several notorious terror kingpins operating in the region, including Bello Turji and Ado Aliero.

The Nigerian Army is currently holding Rabiu in custody for further interrogation to uncover a wider arms trafficking network that supports terrorist operations in northwestern Nigeria.
