Army Calls for Intelligence Sharing with Vigilante Group

Brigadier General Adebisi Onasanya, Commander of the Presidential Guards Brigade, called on the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) to share timely and credible intelligence to assist military efforts in combating insecurity. He made this appeal during a courtesy visit from the VGN's Commander-General, James Udoma, who was accompanied by senior officers.

Onasanya stressed that grassroots intelligence is vital for successful military operations and warned that operations could be compromised without it. He acknowledged the VGN's contributions to security and expressed the military's readiness to enhance collaboration, ensuring the safety of VGN personnel during joint operations.

Onasanya also highlighted emerging threats ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging the VGN to report any potential national security threats. Udoma, who recently succeeded the late Navy Captain Umar Bakori (retd.), praised the Presidential Guards Brigade for its role in national security and noted the VGN's extensive presence across local government areas, which provides valuable grassroots information.
