Arteta Confirms Guimaraes Could Debut Against Villa

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta announced that new signing Bruno Guimaraes may make his debut for the club against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday night. Guimaraes, who joined Arsenal from Newcastle United for £75 million, missed the start of the 2026/27 season due to a groin injury.

Arteta indicated that Guimaraes has been training and has no lingering injury concerns, stating, “Yes potentially” when asked about his participation. Additionally, Arteta provided updates on defender Jurrien Timber, who is increasing his training load, and noted that Ben White has been filling in during Timber's absence.

Ezri Konsa, another summer signing from Aston Villa for £50 million, is also available as a defensive option. However, Arteta mentioned that William Saliba is still recovering and will take longer to return to action, saying, “Willy is going to take a while.”.
