Tinubu Mourns Ex-PDP Chairman Bamanga Tukur's Death

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed his condolences following the death of Bamanga Mohammed Tukur, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, who died on Saturday, September 12, at the age of 90. In a statement from Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tukur was described as a "towering figure" whose contributions spanned public administration, governance, industry, politics, and pan-African business leadership.

Tukur, born on September 15, 1935, served as General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority from 1975 to 1982 and was credited by Tinubu for his meaningful contributions to Nigeria's development. He became the governor of the old Gongola State in 1983 and later served as Minister of Industries.

Tukur also chaired BHI Holdings and the DADDO Group of Companies, and held significant roles in the African Business Roundtable and NEPAD Business Group. From March 2012 to January 2014, he led the PDP under former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Tinubu extended his condolences to Tukur's family, the Fombina Emirate of Adamawa, and the broader political and business communities.
