Bauchi Police Investigate Alleged Torture and Killing

The Bauchi State Police Command has initiated a full-scale investigation into allegations of torture and the killing of a 20-year-old man, Abdullahi Adamu, by police officers attached to a police outpost in Misau Local Government Area. The command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed that the investigation was prompted by reports circulating on social media regarding the assault of the young man during an interrogation related to a police investigation.

Abdullahi Adamu, from Sebor Village in Hardawa District, was initially admitted to the Federal Medical Centre in Misau and later referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for treatment. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Police Commissioner Sani Omolori Aliyu expressed concern over the allegations and reaffirmed the command's commitment to respecting human rights and due process. The command has vowed to ensure justice is served and appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be taken against any personnel found culpable.
