Police Investigate Military Shooting of Adamawa Businessman

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the alleged shooting of Suleiman Abubakar, a businessman, by military personnel in Mubi North Local Government Area on the night of August 2, 2026. The investigation was prompted by a formal complaint from his brother, Muslim Abubakar, who reported the incident on August 3.

Suleiman Abubakar sustained a gunshot injury during an encounter with military personnel. Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Mubi North Division led a team to the scene, ensuring that Suleiman received prompt medical attention, first at a facility in Mubi and later at a higher medical facility in Yola.

The current condition of Suleiman Abubakar has not been disclosed. Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabiru Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation.

The police have also contacted military authorities to facilitate cooperation and ensure transparency in the inquiry.
