Bauchi State Council Approves Monthly Stipends for Imams and Pastors

Bauchi State Economic Council, chaired by Governor Bala Mohammed, has approved the provision of monthly stipends for imams and pastors in Bauchi State. The stipends will be given to religious leaders irrespective of their sect or church affiliation.

The decision was made to financially support these leaders and promote religious harmony in the state. The council discussed the economic and financial implications of this policy, with plans to start salary payments for newly appointed emirs and district heads.

The state government has partnered with Onyx Invest Advisory to manage the state's payroll efficiently, eliminating ghost workers and saving N4.16 billion as of August 2024. The council's review of the state's salary management system has led to increased transparency and financial accountability.
