Bayelsa Governor Praises Progress on Nembe-Brass Road

Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri inspected the ongoing construction of the 21-kilometer phase of the Nembe-Brass road project on Wednesday. He described the project as a dream come true for the people of the Nembe and Brass local government areas.

The road, which traverses a mangrove forest, aims to connect previously inaccessible riverine communities despite the challenging terrain of the state. Governor Diri, accompanied by the Commissioner for Infrastructure Mose Teibowei, assessed the progress of the 10-kilometer asphalt stretch, which includes three bridges crossing the river.

He assured that the project would be completed within the agreed timeline and expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for awarding the contract for the second phase of the project. The completion of the road is anticipated to reduce cases of sea piracy and improve transportation in the region, with the entire project expected to be finished by December 2026.
