Boko Haram Kills 29 in Adamawa Village Attack

On Sunday evening, Boko Haram launched an attack on Sabon Gari village in the Guyaku District of Gombi Local Government Area, Adamawa State, resulting in the deaths of at least 29 individuals. The assault occurred around 5:00 PM when villagers were gathered to watch a local football competition.

The attackers stormed the area, firing sporadically and causing panic among players and spectators, who fled in different directions. Reports indicate that the insurgents split into two groups, surrounding the community and shooting at residents.

In addition to the fatalities, 29 bodies were counted, with others reported missing. The attackers also set ablaze a church, destroyed musical instruments, and looted food items from several shops.

They later moved towards the Sambisa Forest with their loot. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri visited the affected community on Monday, confirming the death toll and describing the attack as tragic and unacceptable.

He extended condolences to the bereaved families and assured residents of renewed collaboration with security agencies to prevent future occurrences.
