Terrorists Kill 29 Villagers in Adamawa Football Match Attack

On Sunday evening, around 5:00 PM, a terrorist attack in Guyaku, Gombi Local Government Area, Adamawa State, resulted in the deaths of 29 villagers who had gathered to watch a local football match. The assailants invaded the community, carrying out sporadic gunfire for several hours, which caused panic among players and spectators who fled in different directions.

Local leader Nimfa Bala reported that 29 bodies were counted, with others missing. The attackers also set ablaze a church, destroyed musical instruments, and burned 42 motorcycles belonging to players and spectators at the football field.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri confirmed the death toll during a visit to the community, expressing condolences to the families affected. He described the incident as tragic and unacceptable, stating that it would not go unpunished.

The governor emphasized the need for intensified security operations to restore peace in the area.
