NPC Chairman Dr. Aminu Yussuf Passes Away at 66

Dr. Aminu Yussuf, the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), died in Abuja on Friday after a brief illness at the age of 66. His death was confirmed by his Principal Private Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Sulaiman, in a telephone conversation with THISDAY.

Dr. Yussuf was an indigene of Niger state and had recently been appointed as NPC National Chairman by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He was born in Wushishi town, Niger state, and was a notable political figure, having served as a local government chairman and the State Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party.

Following Islamic funeral prayers at the Minna Central Mosque, his remains are expected to be interred in Minna, the capital of Niger state. Further details regarding his death and funeral arrangements are anticipated.
