Atoyebi Urges Local Governments to Support RHI Initiatives

Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, the Convener of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group, called on state governors and local government chairmen to create complementary programs that would extend the impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) led by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu. In a statement titled “Progressive Governors, LG Chairmen Should Complement First Lady’s Drive,” Atoyebi emphasized the importance of local governments in translating federal interventions into tangible benefits for communities.

He highlighted the RHI's initiatives launched in 2023, which include agriculture, economic empowerment, healthcare, and education. Atoyebi referenced the RHI-Tony Elumelu Foundation women empowerment program, which provided N50,000 to 18,500 women across all states.

He urged local governments to establish additional support schemes and cited Imo State's increase in beneficiaries from 500 to 2,500 as a successful example. Atoyebi also called for stronger local interventions in healthcare, education, and economic empowerment, stressing that governors should not wait for federal programs to act.
