Atoyebi Urges Governors to Act on Local Needs

Bamidele Atoyebi, Convener of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group, called on state governors and local government chairmen to be accountable for implementing government interventions that benefit citizens. He emphasized that they should not wait for federal directives to address pressing community needs.

In a statement titled “Progressive Governors, LG Chairmen Should Complement First Lady’s Drive,” Atoyebi highlighted the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), launched in 2023 by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, which has shown the effectiveness of targeted interventions in various sectors. He cited the RHI-Tony Elumelu Foundation program that empowered 18,500 women with N50,000 each to support their businesses.

Atoyebi pointed out that states could enhance federal efforts by creating additional support schemes and providing resources to farmers. He noted Imo State's increase in beneficiaries from 500 to 2,500 and referenced the renovated Alternative High School for Girls in Agboju, Lagos, as a local initiative that complements federal programs.
