CAS Advocates Collaborative Security Approach in South-East

On Thursday, during the South-East Regional Security Summit 2026 held in Umuahia, Abia State, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force's commitment to peace and security. He urged collaboration among governments, security agencies, traditional institutions, and local communities to tackle the root causes of insecurity.

The summit, convened by Minister of Defence General Christopher Gwabin Musa, featured a keynote address by Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika (Retd). Aneke described the summit as a collective effort to restore peace and stability in the South-East, which remains a vital industrial hub despite security challenges.

He assured that the Nigerian Air Force, in conjunction with other security agencies, is dedicated to combating criminal activities. He emphasized that military action alone is insufficient for lasting peace and called for a whole-of-society approach, encouraging community leaders to engage youth and provide alternatives to violence.

Aneke also urged residents to support security efforts through timely intelligence sharing.
