Former Catholic Knight Arrested for Ritual Cleansing

Sir James Louis Okoye, known as Ebube Anaedo and a former Catholic Knight of St John International, was arrested by local vigilantes in Nnewi after he was seen performing a ritual cleansing on the streets. This act followed his public denunciation of Christianity during the official opening of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in January, where he protested the church's failure to recognize the contributions of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in building the cathedral.

Okoye gained notoriety when he removed his shoes and knighthood hat, declaring his departure from Christianity with the phrase “Ifeanyi Ubah ndo” and “Akachaam.” His protest led to his excommunication by the Knight of St John International. During his arrest, Okoye claimed he was conducting a cleansing for the community, stating he had permission from the traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, to perform the ritual.
