CDHR Raises Alarm Over Delta Police Leadership Changes

The Delta State branch of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has raised concerns regarding the frequent changes in leadership within the Delta State Police Command, noting that three Commissioners of Police have been deployed in the last seven months. The organization, represented by Chairman Comrade Derrick Agberen and Publicity Secretary Comrade Nosa Godswill, indicated that this trend suggests unusual attention on the office of the CP in Delta State amid recent security developments.

While the CDHR refrained from interfering in the Nigeria Police Force's internal affairs, they emphasized that the repeated redeployment raises issues of stability and continuity in addressing the state's unique security challenges. They welcomed the appointment of the newly deployed CP, Samuel Erale Etaifo, as a positive step towards fairness and equity in security agency leadership.

The CDHR urged CP Etaifo to strengthen security, uphold the rule of law, and foster community partnerships, asserting that the people of Delta State deserve safety, justice, and professional policing.
