Chinese national who fled to Nigeria after committing crime deported

A Chinese national, Dai Qisheng, who fled to Nigeria after being declared wanted for leading a violent organized crime gang in Guizhou Province, China, has been deported back to China. The fugitive had been on the run since 2024, with a warrant for his arrest issued by the Public Security Bureau in Zhijin County.

Nigerian police, in collaboration with InterPol, tracked and apprehended Dai Qisheng in Abuja on August 8th. According to police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrest and repatriation of Dai Qisheng send a clear message to criminals worldwide that Nigeria will not be a safe haven for fugitives.

The Chinese national had been determined to evade justice in his home country, but his capture in Nigeria marks a significant victory in international law enforcement efforts.
