Civil Society Urges PDP to Replace Nnaji with Nnamani

A civil society organization has called on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) to withdraw Geoffrey Nnaji as the party's candidate for the 2027 Enugu governorship election, advocating for Chief Samson Nnamani instead. The group, led by Dr. Emeka Nwachukwu, expressed concerns that Nnaji's ongoing allegations of forgery and his prosecution could negatively impact the party's integrity and electoral prospects.

They emphasized that the PDP should present a candidate without criminal allegations to maintain its traditional stronghold in Enugu State. The organization highlighted that Nnaji's resignation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's cabinet due to similar allegations further complicates his candidacy.

They warned that the PDP's failure to act decisively could lead to a disadvantage in the upcoming elections, urging the party to prioritize candidates with clean records to foster trust and credibility among voters.
