Abba Kyari Cleared in Asset Declaration Case by Court

On a recent ruling, Justice James Omotosho cleared Abba Kyari of allegations related to asset declaration, stating that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) failed to establish a credible case against him. The prosecution accused Kyari of not declaring certain properties alongside his brothers, Moham Kyari and Ali Kyari, alleging he swore a false affidavit to conceal the origin of these assets.

However, Justice Omotosho determined that the NDLEA did not present sufficient evidence to prove ownership of the cited properties, including those located in Fountain Estate, Kasana, and Maiduguri, Borno State. Kyari claimed that the Maiduguri property belonged to his late father and was inherited jointly with his siblings.

The judge dismissed conspiracy allegations against Kyari's brothers, citing a lack of evidence. Despite his acquittal in the asset declaration case, four suspended police officers, including Kyari, are facing separate trials related to a cocaine deal.
