Benue State Government Ordered to Pay ₦57 Million Severance to Former Appointees

A senior district court in Makurdi has ordered the Benue State Government to pay ₦57 million in severance to former Chief of Staff Orbunde and 13 other ex-appointees. The court directive was issued by President Judge Kevin Mbanongun, with enforcement to be carried out by Fidelity Bank PLC.

The ruling came after the claimants sought payment for severance allegedly approved but unpaid after their tenures ended. Despite the court's prompt execution of the garnishee order, the government reportedly failed to release the funds in a timely manner, leading to legal enforcement.
