Alleged Fake Council DG Adeniyi Remanded in Custody

Adeniyi Adeyemi, 38, was remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre by the Federal High Court in Abuja after pleading not guilty to an eight-count charge of conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation. The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was taken over by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, with Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, representing the Federal Government.

Adeyemi was previously charged by the Nigeria Police Force along with two other suspects, Femi and Anu, who remain at large. Following his arraignment before Justice Mohammed Umar, Adeyemi's defense counsel, Genesis Francis, requested bail, citing a medical appointment for a contagious ailment.

However, the prosecution opposed this, assuring the court that Adeyemi would receive adequate medical care in custody. Justice Umar declined to hear the bail application due to a busy court schedule and adjourned the case until October 12, 2026, for further proceedings.

Adeyemi was arrested after failing to appear in court, leading to an arrest warrant issued by Justice Umar.
