Adeyemi Remanded in Kuje Prison Over Fraud Charges

Adeyemi was remanded in Kuje prison after pleading not guilty to an eight-count charge of conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation before Justice Mohammed Umar. The case was taken over by the Attorney-General of the Federation, represented by Rotimi Oyedepo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

The controversy centers around the purported PFIPC, which the Presidency has denied as a legitimate government agency. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, led by Chairman Adamu Aliyu, stated that Adeyemi's appointment letter was fraudulent.

Adeyemi alleged he paid N400 million through a middleman to secure his position and implicated Gbajabiamila, who has denied these allegations. This led to a separate N15 billion lawsuit filed by Gbajabiamila against Adeyemi for alleged bribery.

The police investigation was initiated following a petition from the Chief of Staff to the President regarding forged appointment letters. The prosecution plans to call several witnesses, including Gbajabiamila and various officials, during the trial.
