Court Schedules May 26 for DSS Case Against Malami

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set May 26 for the Department of State Services (DSS) to open its case against former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, SAN, and his son Abdulaziz Abubakar Malami. The case was called with Akinlolu Kehind, SAN, representing the prosecution.

The DSS informed the court of an amendment to the charges filed, replacing earlier arraignment charges. Kehind requested to withdraw the previous charges and amend them, which was agreed upon by the defense lawyer Shaibu Aruwa, SAN.

The charges allege that the Malamis, in December 2025, prepared to commit acts of terrorism and possessed firearms without a license, including a Sturm Magnum 17 0101 firearm and various live rounds and cartridges. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Justice Joyc Abdulmalik allowed the defendants to remain on bail, with conditions met, and adjourned the case until May 26 and June 15 for trial.
