Delta Air Lines Cancels Lagos-Atlanta Flight Twice

Delta Air Lines canceled flight DL9895, scheduled to depart from Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on August 23, 2026, due to a mechanical fault identified during pre-departure safety assessments. The flight was initially delayed but was later canceled again on August 25, 2026, with Delta citing “crew availability constraints” as the reason.

This double cancellation has left numerous passengers stranded in Lagos, causing significant disruptions to their travel plans, including the need for emergency hotel accommodations and rescheduling of domestic flights in the US. Passengers affected by the cancellations are entitled to hotel accommodation, ground transfers, meals, and the option to either re-route on the next available flight or receive a full cash refund.

Additionally, international cancellations without 7 days’ prior notice may qualify passengers for statutory compensation unless extraordinary circumstances are involved. Stranded travelers are awaiting further communication regarding alternative flight arrangements.
