Dangote Rice to Supply 1 Million MT of Paddy Rice in Niger

Dangote Rice Limited has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Niger State Government to guarantee the supply of 1 million metric tons of paddy rice over the next ten years. This initiative aims to bolster food security in Nigeria and enhance local rice production.

Fatima Wali Abdurrahman, the Senior Advisor and Regional Director at Dangote Group, stated that the construction of a rice mill with a capacity of 32 metric tons per hour is underway on a 30-hectare site in Wushishi, which is expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to agricultural development in Nigeria. The partnership also includes Dangote Group's participation as a major sponsor of the 22nd edition of the Niger National Trade Fair, which is set to open on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

The theme of the fair is "Public-Private Partnership: Panacea for Nigeria's Economic Growth." The Niger State Government, represented by Sammi Adigun, emphasized the need for the development of 25,000 hectares of commercial rice farms to create 50,000 direct jobs in the state.
