Delta Man Arrested for Plotting Aunt's Kidnapping

Chukwemeka Destini, a 31-year-old man, was arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly conspiring to kidnap his aunt, who had raised him and provided for his education. The incident was disclosed by police spokesman Bright Edaf, who noted that Destini had paid N900,000 in two installments (N200,000 and N700,000) to individuals he believed would carry out the kidnapping.

The plot was thwarted when the intended kidnappers contacted the police instead of abducting the woman, thus saving her life. During interrogation, Destini admitted to the crime but could not explain his motivations, attributing his actions to "the devil." His aunt, who was shocked upon learning of the plot, had not maintained a relationship with Destini for 15 years.

The police emphasized the need to address the rising trend of violent crimes among close associates and the importance of allowing the law to take its course in such cases. Destini is currently in custody as investigations continue.
