NiMet Warns Motorists Against Driving in Heavy Rain

On September 14, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) issued a warning to motorists to avoid driving under heavy rainfall, forecasting a combination of sunshine, cloudy conditions, thunderstorms, and light to moderate rains across Nigeria from September 14 to 16. The agency's weather outlook, released on September 12, advised the public to take precautions against hazards associated with thunderstorms, such as strong winds and falling branches.

For September 14, NiMet predicted sunny skies with isolated thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall in Taraba State. The North Central region is expected to remain cloudy with intervals of sunshine, while the southern region will experience generally cloudy conditions with chances of thunderstorms and light rains in states including Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.

On September 15, similar weather patterns are expected, with thunderstorms and moderate rainfall anticipated in several southern states. The forecast for September 16 includes sunny weather in the northern region and continued cloudy conditions in the North Central and southern regions.
