Aiyedatiwa Defends Flyover Project Amid Tinubu's Comments

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa clarified President Bola Tinubu’s recent remarks about state governors constructing flyovers, asserting that the President did not criticize such projects when they are deemed necessary. Tinubu had suggested that governors should avoid building flyovers in low-traffic areas and instead invest their increased federal allocations into road networks.

Aiyedatiwa made these comments during the flag-off of a 2.38-kilometre flyover project on Oba Adesida Road in Akure on Monday. He stated that the project was essential to reduce traffic congestion in a busy area of the state capital.

Aiyedatiwa urged that the President's comments should not be taken out of context, emphasizing that the new project was indeed necessary. He also thanked Tinubu for reforms that have allowed states to access more funds from the Federation Account.

The governor described the project as part of his administration’s urban renewal and infrastructural development agenda, addressing the challenges of high traffic and road safety in Akure.
