Family Lawyer Questions NAF's Prolonged Probe into Death

Samuel Abu, the family lawyer representing the family of Joseph Okp, has raised concerns regarding the prolonged investigation by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) into the death of Okp, who was allegedly beaten to death by Air Force officers on May 9. The incident occurred following a minor traffic altercation involving a vehicle from the Nigerian Air Force along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.

Abu stated that the delay in the investigation exacerbates the family's pain and raises suspicions of a cover-up. He emphasized that there is sufficient evidence to conclude the investigation, despite being unable to disclose specific reasons for the delay.

The family has reportedly struggled since the loss of their breadwinner, with Grace Joseph, Okp's widow, accusing the Nigerian Air Force of abandoning them. The Air Force spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodam, confirmed the ongoing investigation and stated that the case is currently under review by appropriate civil and military authorities.
