DSS Grants Bail to Aides of Kano Governor Amid Tensions

Four aides of Kano State Governor, including spokesperson Sanusi Batur Dawakin Tofa, were released on bail by the Department of State Services (DSS) after being detained for four hours. This detention followed a petition filed by the Kwankwasiyya Movement, which accused the aides of cyberbullying and defamation against its leaders, including former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The aides, which also included Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, Ibrahim Adam, and Nuhu Dambazau, were granted bail on self-recognition. Dawakin Tofa disclosed the development via a Facebook post, expressing a willingness to meet with Kwankwaso to apologize. The Kwankwasiyya Movement plans to take the matter to court, with proceedings scheduled for Tuesday. The situation reflects the escalating political tensions between current Governor Yusuf and his former political mentor, Kwankwaso, amid accusations of cyberbullying and defamation exchanged on social media.
