DSS Releases Kano Officials Over Kwankwaso Petition

The Department of State Services (DSS) released several officials from the Kano State government who were questioned in relation to a cyberbullying petition filed by former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The officials included Sunusi Batur, Director General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House, Ibrahim Adam, Special Adviser on Information, Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, APC Youth Leader in Kano, and Nuhu Dambazau, a senior reporter at the Kano Government House.

They were invited by the DSS and held for four hours before being granted bail on self-recognition. The petition, dated April 10, 2026, was filed by the Kwankwasiyya Movement, accusing the officials of cyberbullying and defamation through coordinated online attacks aimed at damaging Kwankwaso's reputation.

The release of the officials came amid rising political tensions and online support for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, although no official statement has been issued by either the DSS or the Kano State government regarding the matter.
