Eddie Nketiah Set to Switch Allegiance to Ghana

Eddie Nketiah, a 27-year-old striker currently with Crystal Palace, is on the verge of switching his international allegiance from England to Ghana. Paperwork is being prepared for submission to FIFA, allowing him to change his international association due to having made only one senior appearance for England, which was in a friendly against Australia in October 2023 under coach Gareth Southgate.

Nketiah has represented England at various youth levels, including Under-18, Under-19, Under-20, and Under-21, where he is the all-time leading goalscorer with 16 goals in 17 appearances. Born in Lewisham, London, to Ghanaian parents, he has been targeted by the Ghana Football Association since 2019, with discussions held with his family by Ghana's Sports Ministry.

If approved by FIFA, Nketiah would join a Black Stars squad that has recently included several Premier League-based players. Ghana has already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
