CAN Urges Unity Among Nigerians Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by President Archbishop Daniel Okoh, issued a statement during the Eid-el-Maulud celebrations, urging both Christians and Muslims in Nigeria to resist division along religious lines as the 2027 general elections approach. The message highlighted the significance of Eid-el-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, and called for reflection on values such as mercy, justice, and compassion.

CAN expressed concern over the current challenges faced by Nigerians, including rising living costs and insecurity, and called on the Federal Government and leaders to transition from promises to actionable solutions. Archbishop Okoh appealed to politicians not to exploit religious or ethnic differences for political gain, stressing the importance of unity in protecting communities and fostering peace. He concluded with a hopeful message for Nigeria, advocating for a commitment to mercy, peace, and compassion.
