NEMA Concludes Emergency Response to Abuja Accident

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the conclusion of its emergency response to a multi-vehicle accident on the Abuja-Nyanya expressway that occurred on Wednesday. The incident involved a fuel tanker that reportedly lost control and collided with several vehicles during peak traffic hours.

NEMA stated that although no lives were lost, some individuals sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Zakari Abubakar, the head of NEMA's Abuja operations office, led the response team, which included coordination with the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Federal Fire Service.

The agencies worked together to clear the accident scene and restore normal traffic flow, which had been disrupted, resulting in significant gridlock. NEMA also implemented security measures to prevent any potential fire outbreak following the crash, ensuring the situation was brought under control.
