Former Kano LG Chairman Arrested for Drug Trafficking

The Chairman of the committee, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, announced the arrest of a former local government chairman in Kano for allegedly selling illegal drugs. The arrest followed an undercover operation that confirmed the suspect was supplying dangerous substances.

The investigation commenced after a young man suffered severe hand deterioration from repeated injections and identified the former chairman as the drug source. Rimingado detailed that operatives tracked the victim back to the suspect, who was apprehended while attempting to hand over concealed drugs.

Initially, the suspect denied involvement, claiming the drugs were sourced from Sabon Gari Market. However, the committee gathered substantial evidence, including the drugs found in his possession and the victim's testimony.

The suspect's medical facility was shut down for operating without a proper license since 1985, and he had performed caesarean sections without qualifications. He has been charged under Section 249 of the Kano Penal Code, which pertains to harmful substance administration, with the committee prepared to present strong evidence in court.
