Fake Police Officer Arrested in Lagos for Impersonation

The Lagos Police Command announced the arrest of a 22-year-old suspect who allegedly stole a police officer's bag containing a camouflage uniform, a warrant card, a mobile phone, and an ATM card belonging to the officer. The suspect later donned the stolen camouflage uniform in an attempt to impersonate a police officer.

However, vigilant residents observed the suspect's behavior and mannerisms, which were inconsistent with those of a genuine police officer, raising their suspicions. The statement from the police indicated that the suspect was subsequently questioned and discovered to be an impostor.

The suspect is currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing, with plans to charge them in court upon conclusion of the investigation. The Lagos Police Command commended the vigilance of the residents, emphasizing the importance of public participation in maintaining security while condemning any form of jungle justice, urging the public to allow law enforcement agencies to handle such matters.
