Governor Wike Emphasizes Balanced Use of FCT Funds Amid Worker Strike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State addressed the ongoing strike by workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration in Abuja, emphasizing that the funds should not be exclusively allocated for salaries. He highlighted the importance of utilizing the funds for critical development projects like infrastructure, education, and public services.

Wike revealed a significant increase in the monthly allocation to the FCT since assuming office, stressing the need to judiciously split the funds between salaries and infrastructure. He warned against using new funds to settle old obligations and expenses, urging a focus on present development needs.

Wike also appealed to the workers to support the administration and respect court orders to avoid legal consequences. The strike, which began on January 19 over unresolved welfare and salary issues, has disrupted public services in Abuja, including government offices.
