Nigeria Inaugurates Anti-Doping Centre Technical Board

On July 2, 2026, the Federal Government of Nigeria inaugurated the Technical Board of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre (NADC) in Abuja, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in sporting activities. The ceremony, attended by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, marked a significant milestone in Nigeria's efforts to promote integrity and fairness in sports.

The establishment of the NADC follows the enactment of the National Anti-Doping Act of 2025, which provides the legal framework for implementing Nigeria's anti-doping obligations in line with the World Anti-Doping Code. Akume emphasized the board's responsibility to uphold the law, protect athletes, and ensure compliance with anti-doping regulations.

The board is tasked with extending anti-doping education beyond elite competitions to grassroots sports, schools, and communities. Senator Abdul Ahm Ningi, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports Development, pledged legislative support for the success of Nigeria's anti-doping program.

The event was described as a landmark achievement in Nigeria's ongoing sports sector transformation.
