FERMA Engages Locals for Zuba-Abaji Road Maintenance

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has initiated a one-month maintenance exercise on the Zuba-Abaji-Kogi State border road, engaging 50 locals starting from August 10, 2026. This initiative is part of FERMA's nationwide routine and preventive road maintenance program aimed at improving road safety, creating jobs, and sustaining this critical transport corridor.

The maintenance covers the section between Chainage 46+000 and CH 88+000. During the flag-off ceremony, Engr. Martin Chidozie Eze, the Federal Roads Maintenance Engineer for the FCT, urged participants to show professionalism and commitment.

FERMA provided workers with tools, safety kits, and reflective jackets, emphasizing safety during the maintenance activities. The project aims to reduce road accidents, improve visibility, and extend the lifespan of federal road infrastructure.

The Zuba-Abaji-Kogi border road is prioritized for its economic significance, facilitating movement between Northern and Southern Nigeria. Maintenance activities include desilting, vegetation control, refuse evacuation, and pothole repairs, with a focus on drainage to mitigate rainfall damage.
