FG and Rivers State Sign MoU to Boost Tourism Development

On July 27, 2026, the federal government and the Rivers State government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing culture, tourism, and the creative economy in Rivers State. Awaji-inombek Abiante, the member representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, expressed support for the partnership, emphasizing its potential to attract sustainable investments that would enhance the local economy and increase state revenue.

During the signing ceremony at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara highlighted that the agreement would reposition Rivers State for greater investments in culture and tourism, particularly in ecotourism prospects in Andoni Local Government Area. The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Mrs. Hannatu Musawa, noted that the Renewed Hope Cultural Project would leverage the state's cultural and tourism potential.

Abiante reflected on his efforts to promote the cultural assets of his constituency and expressed optimism that the MoU would revolutionize tourism in the area.
