Adamawa Governor Fintiri Declares Mourning for Tukur

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri declared a three-day mourning period following the death of Bamanga Tukur, a former governor of the defunct Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Tukur passed away in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness.

In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri expressed that Tukur's death is a monumental loss to both Adamawa State and Nigeria. He praised Tukur for his courage, foresight, and lifelong commitment to public service, describing him as a political colossus whose contributions significantly impacted the political and socio-economic development of the country.

Fintiri noted that he would personally miss Tukur's wise counsel and extensive experience. He extended condolences to Tukur's family, friends, and associates, urging them to find strength in his legacy.

Tukur served as the first civilian governor of Gongola State and played a prominent role in Nigeria's political landscape for several decades.
