Ekiti State Distributes Subsidized Agrochemicals to Farmers

The Ekiti State Government has launched a distribution of subsidized agrochemicals to farmers across 16 local government areas as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity, reduce production costs, and strengthen food security. The initiative was flagged off by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Ebenez Boluwad, who urged beneficiaries to apply agrochemicals according to recommended guidelines to maximize effectiveness and ensure safe use.

Boluwad explained that the intervention aims to ease the financial burden on farmers, improve crop yield, and support the state's drive toward sustainable food production. He disclosed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will soon commence a digital registration of farmers across the state to develop a database for effective future agricultural interventions.

Dr. Babatop Ojo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, described the exercise as a demonstration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji's commitment to improving agricultural productivity and enhancing farmers' livelihoods.

The initiative has been praised by local farmer representatives for prioritizing their welfare.
