Rainstorm Causes Force Majeure on Lagos-Osun Powerline

A rainstorm has led to the declaration of force majeure by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) after it caused substantial damage to the Lagos-Osun powerline. The storm resulted in a line trip due to a fault detected approximately 14.9 km from the Ikeja West to Ayobo end of the transmission line.

TCN's maintenance crew conducted further inspections and revealed that tower 515 had collapsed during the storm, affecting its structural integrity. TCN has mobilized materials and personnel to re-erect the fallen tower, with ongoing efforts to restore power.

The declaration of force majeure means that contractual obligations are suspended for the parties involved due to this extraordinary and uncontrollable natural disaster. The rainstorm has also reduced power consumption in the affected areas, leading to a loss of load.
