TCN Declares Force Majeure After Armed Attack in Offa

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced a force majeure on the Offa Transmission Station after an armed attack occurred on Thursday, last week. Gunmen invaded the facility, taking personnel hostage at gunpoint and demanding that operators open the Offa-Ojoku 33kV feeder.

The attack resulted in the tampering of control switch relay buttons and a total shutdown of the substation. TCN's General Manager, Ndidi Mba, stated that the incident caused significant disruption, affecting the operation of a 40MVA transformer and leading to the restoration of power supply to the Offa 33kV feeder at approximately 1.07M and the Ojoku 33kV feeder at 1.14M.

TCN expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to efficiently transmit bulk electricity to distribution companies across the country.
