TCN Declares Force Majeure on Ikeja West-Osogbo Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced a force majeure on the Ikeja West-Osogbo 330kV transmission line following a severe rainstorm that occurred on Thursday, April 16, 2026. The storm caused the line to trip due to a fault detected approximately 14.9 kilometers from the Ikeja West Ayobo end.

Subsequent inspections by TCN's maintenance team revealed that tower number 515 had collapsed due to structural failure in its midsection, disrupting power flow along the affected line. TCN has mobilized materials and personnel to reconstruct the damaged tower and is currently dismantling the collapsed structure to facilitate its re-erection.

Despite this setback, TCN assured stakeholders that bulk power supply along the corridor is not entirely cut off, as alternative transmission lines remain in service to help maintain system stability. The company emphasized its commitment to restoring full operational capacity as quickly as possible and is undertaking emergency response measures to address the situation.
