Fresh Attacks Displace Residents in Sokoto, 300 Cattle Rustled

In Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State, fresh attacks have led to the displacement of residents and the rustling of over 300 cattle and seven camels from Ungushi and Gwandi communities. The violence occurred shortly after the Sokoto State Police Command confirmed an earlier attack by suspected Lakurawa militants in Kebbe town.

Residents began fleeing Ungushi community around 8 pm on Saturday, with many women, children, and elderly individuals forced to abandon their homes. Displaced persons spent the night in the rain with little to no belongings.

Two individuals, Usman Umar Margai and Sani Abdullahi Gwandi, are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at the General Hospital in Kebbe. Local sources report that communication with affected communities remains difficult, complicating casualty assessments.

The attacks have raised significant security concerns, prompting many families to leave rural areas for the perceived safety of Kebbe town.
