Adeleke Warns Osun Residents of Potential Terror Attacks

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke issued a warning to residents regarding potential terrorist attacks in the state, particularly targeting places of worship and public gathering locations. This warning was communicated through a statement from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday in Osogbo.

Adeleke emphasized the importance of vigilance and urged residents to report any suspicious persons or activities, especially in border communities. He commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for its proactive approach to the threat and directed other security agencies to enhance their security measures.

A State Security Council meeting will be convened to assess the situation and formulate response plans. The warning follows political tensions in the state after the August 15 governorship election and is not limited to political activities.

The DSS has also met with representatives from the Muslim community and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to advise on preventive measures. Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi confirmed the meeting, highlighting concerns about potential terrorist movements into the South-West.
