Bala Mohammed Denies APC Defection Rumors, Stays PDP Loyal

On Wednesday, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State dismissed rumors suggesting his imminent defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He insisted that he remains a loyal member of the PDP, despite speculation about a potential move.

Speaking briefly to journalists, he declined to provide a full interview on the matter but indicated he would address it later in a scheduled appearance on Channel 7 at 7 PM. During the same press briefing, he announced the appointment of 17 new permanent secretaries in his administration and urged them to uphold integrity and avoid corrupt practices.

He emphasized the importance of discipline and professionalism, warning against insubordination and partisan involvement in government offices. Additionally, he reassured that his administration is committed to clearing outstanding gratuities estimated at N20 billion, which are arrears dating back 13 years, beginning from January 2026.

Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Talatu Musa Umar, administered the oath of office to the new appointees.
